The green light is at the end of Daisy’s dock and Gatsby stares at it a lot. For Gatsby, it stands for his dream of being with Daisy and having the perfect life.
It also shows how people chase goals that are always just out of reach. Gatsby gets close to his dream, but never fully reaches it.
The Valley of Ashes is a dirty and poor area between the city and the rich neighborhoods. It shows what is left behind by rich people who only care about money.
This place represents how society can be unfair and how some people suffer so others can live comfortably.
Gatsby throws huge parties with music, food, and lots of guests, but he usually feels alone at them.
The parties show how wealth does not always bring happiness, and how people can be surrounded by others but still feel empty
